Initial Diagnosis

First of all turn off all equipment for 30 seconds and power back up if this hasn't brought the connection back proceed as below.

Check all the equipment is plugged in correctly:

  • Power supply has steady green light showing
  • Black cable from outside is in the side labelled POE
  • Cable from router to power supply is in the side labelled LAN
  • At router end cable is in LAN (usually yellow) port on ADSL type router...WAN (usually blue) port on cable router

If all is okay, check if router is at fault:

  • Unplug router cable and plug into LAN port on laptop/device
  • If no connection reboot laptop/device
  • Check that the device is set to obtain IP address automatically using the following procedure;
  1. Install TCP/IP component
  2. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click the Network and Internet Connections icon, and then click on the Network Connections tab in the appearing window.
  4. Right click the icon that showed below, select Properties on the prompt page.
  5. In the prompt page that showed below, double click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  6. The following TCP/IP Properties window will display and the IP Address tab is open on this window by default.
  7. Select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server automatically

If the connection worked fine wired in then the problem lies with the router.

Please go through the steps on our router setting page if the above is the case. If it did not work wired please get in touch with us.
